How to secure keyboard input in Kaspersky Small Office Security 6
Hackers can use spyware applications to intercept the data that you enter from your keyboard.
These applications log your key strokes and read the entered information. To prevent them from intercepting your data, use the On-Screen Keyboard of Kaspersky Small Office Security in your browser.
The following versions of browsers are supported:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0, 9.0, 10.0, and 11.0 (except for Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 through 11 with the new Windows interface style)
- Microsoft Edge, all versions
- Mozilla Firefox versions 52–59
- Mozilla Firefox ESR 52
- Google Chrome versions 48–64
To start On-Screen Keyboard after installing Kaspersky Small Office Security, restart the computer and enable the Kaspersky Protection extension. To learn how to enable the extension, please refer to the instructions in this article.
On-Screen Keyboard will not protect your personal data if hackers hack into a website that requires data entry.
How to open On-Screen Keyboard from your browser
- Open the browser and click the Kaspersky Protection extension button. It is located on the right or left of the address bar depending on the specific browser. To learn how to enable the Kaspersky Protection extension in Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, please refer to the instructions in this article.
- Click Open On-Screen Keyboard.
The keyboard will appear on the screen.
How to open the On-Screen Keyboard from the context menu of Kaspersky Small Office Security
- In the lower-right corner of the desktop, right-click the Kaspersky Small Office Security icon. If the application icon is hidden, click the Show hidden icons button.
- In the context menu, select Tools → On-Screen Keyboard.
The keyboard will appear on the screen.
How to configure On-Screen Keyboard
- In the main window of Kaspersky Small Office Security, click the settings button in the lower-left corner. To learn how to open the application, please refer to the instructions in this article.
- Go to the Additional section and click Secure Data Input.
- In the On-Screen Keyboard section, clear or select the checkboxes:
- Open On-Screen Keyboard by typing CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+P .
- Show quick launch icon in data entry fields .
- Click Edit categories to select the data categories and websites for which the On-Screen Keyboard quick launch icon will be displayed.
- Select or clear the checkboxes for the categories:
- All data entry fields for Safe Money
- Banks
- Electronic commerce
- Internet communication media
- Click Manage exclusions → Add to define individual settings for displaying the quick launch icon for On-Screen Keyboard.
- Enter the web address mask, select the scope and the On-Screen Keyboard icon display setting.
- Click Add.
The On-Screen Keyboard settings will be set.
Special considerations when typing from the On-Screen Keyboard
Data entry
To enter data, make sure that the relevant input field is selected, and use the mouse to click on keys of On-Screen Keyboard.
Special entry mode
When the SHIFT, ALT, or CTRL keys are pressed on the On-Screen Keyboard, this enables a special entry mode depending on the settings. To cancel the special entry mode, click the same key again.
Switching the language
To switch the language of the On-Screen Keyboard, use one of the following methods:
- Press the CTRL key on the hardware keyboard and right-click the SHIFT key on the On-Screen Keyboard.
- Press the SHIFT key on the hardware keyboard and right-click the ALT key on the On-Screen Keyboard.
- Press CTRL + SHIFT or SHIFT+ALT on the hardware keyboard.
Key combinations
To use a key combination on the On-Screen Keyboard, click the first and second key in succession, and then click the first key again. The second click of the key has the same effect as releasing the key on a hardware keyboard.
