Kaspersky Internet Security uses the following smart scan technologies:

  • iChecker, which makes the scanning process faster by excluding some of the files from the scope. Files are excluded based on an algorithm which compares the database release date, date of the previous scan of the file, and checks if the scan settings have been changed since the last scan. The iChecker technology has a limitation: it cannot process large files and only checks files with known extensions, e.g. EXE, DLL, LNK, TTF, INF, SYS, COM, CHM, ZIP, RAR.
  • iSwift, which is an iChecker technology for the NTFS file system. The iSwift technology has a limitation: it can only be applied to objects in the NTFS file system as it uses the exact location of a file in the file system.

You can enable or disable the use of iChecker and iSwift technologies in the following components:

  • File Anti-Virus
  • Scan
