Operating system changes after installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Lotus Domino

Applies to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Lotus Domino

Installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Lotus Domino makes the following changes in your operating system:

  • new files and folders created;
  • changes in the Domino configuration file (notes.ini);
  • changes in the list of processes.

Application files and folders

  • kavcommon – Kaspersky Anti-Virus service folder. This folder is created during the installation process in the following location depending on the operating system type:

    • Microsoft Windows operating systems – in the Domino server binary files folder (by default: C:\Program Files\Lotus\Domino);
    • Linux operating systems – in the Domino server data folder (by default: /local/notesdata).

  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus databases folder – specified by user during installation. Its location depends on the operating system type:

    • Microsoft Windows operating systems – in the Domino server data folder (by default: C:\Program Files\Lotus\Domino\Data);
    • Linux operating systems – in the Domino server data folder (by default: /local/notesdata).

The following databases are created in the Kaspersky Anti-Virus databases folder:

  • kavsetuplog.nsf (Installation log);
  • kavcontrolcenter.nsf (Control center);
  • kaveventslog.nsf (Event log and statistics);
  • kavquarantine.nsf (Quarantine);
  • kavhelp.nsf (Help);
  • kavlocale.nsf (Kaspersky Anti-Virus service database).

Changes in the Domino configuration file(notes.ini)

  • New task name KAVControl in the ServerTasks basic variable. It automatically starts the task on Domino server start-up;
  • New string kavmailhook (for Windows) or <Domino_data_folder_full_path>/libnkavmailhook.so (for Linux) in the EXTMGR_ADDINS basic variable – names of libraries responsible for intercepting the documents;
  • Basic variable EDITEXP1 providing the necessary Rich Text fields transformations for subsequent scanning; assigned with the value ASCII Text,2,_XTEXT,,.C,.H,.PRN,.RIP,.TXT,._UNKNOWN,,1, 
  • Variable KAVDatabasesPath, containing the Kaspersky Anti-Virus databases path.

Changes in the list of processes

  • KAVControl – control module
  • KAVMonitor – mail scan and replications module
  • KAVScanner – database scan module
