About Parental Control

The Parental Control component in Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 enables you to apply restrictions on use of the computer and Internet for each user account on the computer.

Parental Control features can help protect children and teenagers from negative influences while using the computer and Internet, for example by preventing them spending long periods of time on the computer and Internet, and wasting time and money when visiting certain websites, and by limiting access to websites intended for adults.

Parental Control features

Parental Control can help you control:

  • Use of the computer. You can limit the time of the computer usage for a selected user. Each computer switch will be logged in the report.
  • Launch of various applications. When the section is enabled starting and closing time of applications will be logged in the report. All attempts to start blocked programs will be blocked.
  • Use of the Internet (time restriction on Internet use). You can set up general time of the Internet usage (for example, 6 hours) and specify the time intervals for every weekday (for example, from 15:00 to 20:00 Monday to Friday and from 17:00 to 23:00 Saturday and Sunday).
  • Web browsing depending on the sites' contents.
  • Downloading of files from the Internet depending on their category. You can restrict access to websites depending on their content (for example, files from the Music category are allowed for download and files from the Archives category are forbidden).
  • Correspondence with specified contacts through IM clients (such as ICQ, Miranda, and mIRC). When the control is enabled the text message, time and contact will be logged in the report. (In order to enable the control in the programs that use encrypted connections, enable the option Scan encrypted connections if Parental Control is enabled in the Settings window – the Advanced settings tab – Network.)
  • Correspondence with specified contacts on social networks (Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter). You can control and restrict the user’s messaging in social networks. When the control is enabled the text message, time and contact will be logged in the report.
  • Sending of personal data. You can restrict transfer of personal data by the user via IM clients. When the control is enabled, messages with personal information will be blocked and messaging attempts will be displayed in the report.
  • Use of specified words and word combinations in correspondence through IM clients . When the control is enabled each key word detected in messages will be displayed in the report.
  • Additionally you can select an alias and an image for every user account that will be displayed in the program interface.
