Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 secures your computer protection against malware. Sometimes though the application itself becomes the target for malicious programs which try to block the application or remove it from your computer. To protect the application, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 features the Self-Defense and external service control components.

In some cases, for example, for deleting large trace files, you may need to disable Self-Defense.

To enable or disable the application Self-Defense, do the following:

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. In the upper right corner, click Settings.

  1. In the Settings window, go to the Advanced Settings tab and select Self-Defense.
  2. In the right frame of the window:
    • To disable the application self-defense, clear the Enable Self-Defense check box.
    • To enable the application self-defense, select the Enable Self-Defense check box.

  1. In the lower right corner click OK

If password protection is enabled in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013, enter your password in the Password checking window and click OK.

  1. Close the main application window.
