Kaspersky Security Center 10 allows to distribute updates to managed computers in the groups through update agents set for these groups instead of the Administration server.
An update agent is a computer within the Administration Server network, which is assigned to store and distribute database updates, installation packages, group tasks and policies. Devices with installed Administration server can be assigned to be update agents manually or automatically through the Administration Server. The full list of update agents for specified groups of managed computers is available in the corresponding report.
Main tasks of the update agent:
W recommend that you use the update agent in case there are many remote offices with a small number of computers. It saves VPN traffic and does not require an individual computer with the managed Administration server on it.
To be used as an update agent, the computer must have at least 4 GB or available disk space. If there is less than 2 GB of disk space left on the update agent, Kaspersky Security Center will create an incident with the Warning level of severity.
