Hardware virtualization is a technology that allows you to run several virtual guest systems using one process. In other words, it’s possible to run multiple operating systems on one computer using a hypervisor. Examples of popular hypervisors: VMWare ESXi, Xen, Microsoft Hyper-V.

Kaspersky Lab applications installed on 64-bit versions of Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 use hardware virtualization for additional protection when using Protected Browser. This feature provides additional protection against complex malware that steals data through clipboard or phishing.

You can view the status of the hardware virtualization in the settings of your Kaspersky application:

  • In version 20.0.14.1085, it is available in the Settings for additional protection tools.

  • The hardware virtualization status in the Kaspersky application version 20

  • In version 19.0.0.1088, it is available in the Safe Money settings window.

  • The hardware virtualization status in the Kaspersky application version 19
