How to roll back a database update in Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows
This article concerns Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows:
- Service Pack 1 Maintenance Release 4 (version 10.2.6.3733)
- Service Pack 1 Maintenance Release 3 (version 10.2.5.3201)
- Service Pack 1 Maintenance Release 2 (version 10.2.4.674)
Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows creates a backup copy of antivirus databases and application modules during every database update task. This allows you rolling back the databases, which may be necessary in the following cases:
- The new version contains an incorrect signature which blocks a trusted application.
- Latest antivirus databases got corrupted.
You can only roll back to the previous update.
How to roll back the latest update through the interface
To roll back the latest update:
- Open Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows.
- Go to Protection and Control → Tasks.
- Right-click the Update task in the list and select Roll back update.
How to roll back the latest update through the command line
You can use the command line for rolling back database updates only if Application settings area is password-protected.
To roll back via the command line:
- Open the command line.
- Execute the avp.com command with the ROLLBACK parameter:
avp.com ROLLBACK </login=<login>> </password=<password>> [/R[A]:<report file>] [/S]
- /login — database update login.
- /password — database update password.
- /R — saving important events to the specified report file.
- /RA — saving all reports to the specified report file.
- /S — running a task in the asynchronous mode.
For example:
avp.com ROLLBACK /login=user /password=123 /RA C/:report.txt.
How to roll back the update via Kaspersky Security Center
To roll back the latest update:
- Open Kaspersky Security Center.
- Go to Managed devices → Tasks.
- Click Create a task.
- Select Rollback and click Next.
- Enter a name for the task and click Next.
- Select the checkbox Run task after Wizard finishes and click Finish.
