Windows network poll
There are two types of Windows network poll: Full and Quick. During a quick poll, the Administration Server only gets the information about the NetBIOS names of all devices in all domains and network groups. During a full poll, the Administration Server requests the operating system name, IP address, DNS name, and NetBIOS name for each managed device.
For more details about Windows network polling, see Online Help.
If the Administration Server is installed on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and the Administration Server service runs under the Local System account, the quick poll is not available.
Step 1. Adjust the Windows network poll settings
- Open Kaspersky Security Center.
- Go to Advanced → Device discovery → Domains.
- Click Configure polling.
- Go to the General section and set Winodws polling schedule if required. Click OK.
Step 2. Run the Windows network poll
Go to the Domains node and click Poll now in the right frame.
Active Directory groups poll
Perform the Active Directory poll to get the structure of units and the list of devices within each unit. The information about the structure of Active Directory groups and DNS names of the devices is written into the Administration Server database.
For more details about Active Directory groups polling, see Online Help.
Step 1. Configure the Active Directory polling settings
- Open Kaspersky Security Center.
- Proceed to Advanced → Device discovery → Active Directory.
- Click Configure polling.
- Click Advanced.
- Choose one of the options:
- Poll current Active Directory domain, to poll the domain where the Administration Server is installed.
- Poll Active Directory domain forest, to poll the whole domain structure.
- Poll specified Active Directory domains, to poll the added domain. To add a domain to the list, enter the domain controller name, the user account with domain, and password permissions.
- Click OK.
Step 2. Run the Active Directory poll
Go to the Active Directory node and click Poll now in the right frame.
IP ranges poll
Run the IP ranges poll to get the list of the devices in the network segments. The Administration Server polls the IP ranges using ICMP packets. When the Administration Server is installed, the IP ranges in which the Administration Server is located are identified. If you want to poll other IP ranges, add them manually.
For more details about IP range polling, see Online Help.
Step 1. Add a new IP range
- Open Kaspersky Security Center.
- Proceed to Advanced → Device discovery → IP ranges.
- Click Add subnet.
- Configure the parameters of the new IP subnet. Click ОК.
Step 3. Run the IP ranges poll
By default, the IP subnet poll is disabled.
Go to the IP ranges node and click Poll now in the right frame.
On the virtual Administration Server, you can view and change the settings of the IP subnets in the Update Agent properties window in the Network poll section. Managed devices detected during the IP subnet poll are displayed in the Domains folder of the virtual Administration Server.
