During the process of installing Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 errors may occur, caused by the presence of malicious programs on your computer. These malicious programs hinder the installation of antivirus applications.

If such errors occur, the Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 Installation Wizard prompts you to download a special utility called Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool for removing viruses and all other types of malicious programs from an infected computer.

If you agree to install Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, the Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 Installation Wizard downloads the utility from Kaspersky Lab's servers, then the utility starts to install automatically

If the Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 Installation Wizard cannot download the utility from Kaspersky Lab's servers, you are asked to download it manually through the link it provides.

After Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool has finished its work

  1. Run the installation of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 from the beginning.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 also includes Advanced Disinfection technology for removing active infections. The purpose of this technology is to rid the system of malicious programs that are already running their processes in the RAM and which use various methods to prevent antivirus software from removing them, including switching between two different processes.

When active malicious code is detected through this technology, the following procedure is used to delete the virus:

  • Block the launch of any new processes in the system;
  • Block any actions involving registry keys responsible for Auto Start. Also block the creation of new files in Auto Start folders;
  • Block the creation of new executable files;
  • Launch a scan of Auto Start objects and delete the necessary malicious code;
  • Restart the system;
  • Launch the system without the malicious code.

After restarting the computer it is recommended to start a full scan for viruses.

To enable Advanced Disinfection:

  1. In the upper-right part of the window, click Settings.
  2. In the Settings window, go to the Advanced Settings tab and select the Compatibility section.
  3. In the right part of the window check the Enable Advanced Disinfection technology box.
  4. In the Settings window, click OK.
  5. Close the main application window.
