Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 features the Self-Defense component that protects the application from malware and ensures its stable operation.

In some cases, you may need to disable Self-Defense (for example, for deleting large trace files).

To enable or disable Self-Defense, perform the following actions:

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. In the upper right corner of the window, click Settings.
  3. In the upper part of the Settings window, select Advanced Settings.
  4. In the left frame of the Settings window, select Self-Defense.
  5. In the right frame of the window:
    • If you wish to disable the program self-defense uncheck Enable Self-Defense
    • If you wish to enable the program self-defense check Enable Self-Defense
  6. In the lower right corner, click OK.

If password protection is enabled in Kaspersky Internet Security 2012, enter your password in the Password checking window and click OK.

  1. Close the main application window.
