On the map you can find not only family members, but also all the devices they use. Sometimes the location of your child's Android device may not be accurately determined because of a weak GPS signal. This can be fixed.
To improve the accuracy of your child's location:
On Android 12 and later
- Go to your child's device Settings.
- Select Location and tap to open it. Check if Location is enabled.
- Tap Location Services and then Google Location Accuracy. Check if Accuracy is turned on.
- Turn on Improve Location Accuracy if it is off.
On Android 11 and earlier
- Go to your child's device Settings.
- Select Location and tap to open it. Check if Location is enabled.
- Tap Advanced and then Google Location Accuracy. Check if Accuracy is turned on.
- Turn on Improve Location Accuracy if it is off.
Turning on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning can also help to increase location accuracy.
To turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning:
On Android 12 and later
- Go to your child's device Settings.
- Select Location and tap to open it.
- Tap Location Services.
- Turn on Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning if they are off.
On Android 11 and earlier
- Go to your child's device Settings.
- Select Location and tap to open it.
- Tap Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning.
- Turn on Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning if they are off.
If the settings above were off, turn them on and restart your child's device. Your child's location will be more accurate from now on.
When your child is indoors the GPS signal may still be weak. Wait until your child goes outside.
