Cannot initialize the snap-in error in the MMC console

The article concerns the following application versions:
  • Kaspersky Security Center 11 (version 11.0.0.1131)
  • Kaspersky Security Center 10 Service Pack 3 (version 10.5.1781.0)
  • Kaspersky Security Center 10 Service Pack 2 Maintenance Release 1 (version 10.4.343.0)
 
 
 
 

When starting the Management console or when switching between the groups of managed computers, the "MMC cannot initialize the snap-in" error may occur:

MMC cannot initialize the snap-in.

Solution

To fix the issue, try the following: 

  1. Close Kaspersky Security Center.
  2. Delete the Kaspersky Security Center file with no extension from the folder:
    <system_disk>:\Users\<user_account>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MMC\  

If the files are not present in the folder, use the standard search to find it.

Information about managed computers, groups, tasks and policies will be saved.
