How to use Kaspersky Small Office Security 6 to block data collection on websites
Tracking services collect and analyze information about your activities on websites. This data may be used to show ads.
Using the Private Browsing component of Kaspersky Small Office Security, you can block the collection of information about your activities on the internet. By default, the component only counts data collection attempts and logs information about this in a report. You can enable blocking of data collection for all websites in the application settings.
The application does not block data collection on the following websites and pages:
- Websites that you have added to exclusions. You can modify the list of exclusions in the component settings.
- Websites of Kaspersky Lab and its partners. You can remove this limitation in the component settings.
- Websites that may be rendered inoperable if data collection is blocked. You can remove this limitation in the component settings.
- Websites in the Social Networks category (for example, Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter), if you are currently on a social network page.
- Pages that could not be determined. Kaspersky Small Office Security does not block data collection attempts on such pages and does not display information about them.
Supported browsers
Private Browsing is compatible with the following browsers:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0 through 11.0, except Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 and 11 with the new Windows interface style
- Microsoft Edge, all versions
- Mozilla Firefox 52.x or later
- Mozilla Firefox ESR 52.x
- Google Chrome 48.x–64.x
How to block data collection
- In the main window of Kaspersky Small Office Security, click the settings button in the lower-left corner. To learn how to open the application, please refer to the instructions in this article.
- Go to the Protection section.
- Make sure that the Private Browsing component is enabled and click it.
- Select the Block data collection option. Kaspersky Small Office Security will block data collection attempts on all websites except exclusions.
- By default, data collection is allowed on the websites of Kaspersky Lab and its partners. To view a list of these websites, click the Websites of Kaspersky Lab and its partners link.
If you want to block data collection on these websites, clear the Allow data collection on the websites of Kaspersky Lab and its partners checkbox. - By default, data collection is allowed on websites that may be rendered inoperable as a result of data collection being blocked. To view the list of such websites, click the Incompatible websites link.
If you want to block data collection on these websites, clear the Allow data collection on incompatible websites checkbox. - If you would like to permit data collection on a certain website, add it to the exclusions list. To do so, click Categories and exclusions. Clear the checkbox from the website category or add the website address to the list by clicking Exclusions.
How to view statistics on blocked requests on a website
The Private Browsing component operates through the Kaspersky Protection extension. To learn how to enable the Kaspersky Protection extension in your browser, please refer to the instructions in this article.
To view website data collection statistics:
- Open the website for which you want to view the statistics.
- Click the Kaspersky Protection extension button. It is located on the right or left of the address bar depending on the specific browser.
- Click Private Browsing.
In the drop-down list, you will see website data collection statistics.
In the list containing statistics, you can add the website that is currently open to the list of exclusions by clicking Allow data collection on this website, or open the component settings by clicking the Settings button.
