Upgrading Kaspersky Anti Targeted Attack Platform

Before installing the upgrade package, we recommend first creating a backup of the current state of each Central Node server to be updated and downloading it to the hard drive from the application administrator menu. If installing an application upgrade package fails, or if you need to reinstall Kaspersky Anti Targeted Attack Platform, you can use the backup copy of the application.
We also recommend learning about the limitations of the version to which you are upgrading.

You cannot migrate from the non-high-availability version of the application to the high availability version by upgrading it — if you are using the non-high-availability version of the application, you can only install the non-high-availability version during the upgrade, and vice versa.

Kaspersky Anti Targeted Attack Platform version 8.0 does not include the KEDR functional unit. During the upgrade, all data associated with it will be deleted. If you are using the KEDR functional unit, we recommend migrating this data to the Open Single Management Platform system before upgrading. For more information on data migration, see the Open Single Management Platform Help.

When you upgrade the application to version 8.0, the following data is deleted:

Upgrading the application involves the following steps:

  1. Upgrading the Sandbox component.

The application does not have a procedure for upgrading the component. You must install version 8.0 of the component.

After installing the component, you need to set the maximum number of simultaneously running virtual machines. The default value is 48.

When installing the component on a VMware ESXi virtual machine, you must set up a configuration described in Calculations for the Sandbox component section.

  2. Upgrading the Central Node component.
    • If the component is deployed on the Ubuntu operating system, you can upgrade the component from version 7.1.3 to version 8.0.
    • If the component is deployed on the Astra Linux operating system, you can upgrade the application in the following ways:
      • From version 7.1.1 to version 8.0
      • From version 7.1.3 to version 8.0

For instructions on upgrading the component, refer to the Upgrading Central Node installed on a server or Upgrading Central Node installed as a cluster sections.

    Upgrading to version 8.0 from versions of the application earlier than 7.1.3 based on the Ubuntu operating system and versions earlier than 7.1.1 or 7.1.3 based on the Astra Linux operating system is not possible. If you are using an older version of the application, you must upgrade Central Node to the specified versions in the following order: 3.7 → 3.7.1, 3.7.1 → 3.7.2, 3.7.2 → 4.0, 4.0 → 4.1, 4.1 → 5.0, 5.0 → 5.1, 5.1 → 6.0, 6.0 → 6.0.2, 6.0.2 → 6.1, 6.1 → 7.0.3, 7.0.3 → 7.1, 7.1 → 7.1.1 or 7.1.2, 7.1.1 or 7.1.2 → 7.1.3.

If you have connected and configured external storage for Embedded Sensor, after the update, you need to follow the steps of the Restoring data in external storage for the Sensor component instructions.

  3. Upgrading the Sensor component installed on a standalone server.

The application does not have a procedure for upgrading the component. You need to install version 8.0 of the component, keeping in mind the recommendations.

  4. Upgrading the Endpoint Agent component:

If you are using email sensors, you do not need to upgrade them. After updating Kaspersky Anti Targeted Attack Platform, integration with them is preserved.
