Kaspersky Password Manager lets you import data files created in previous versions of Kaspersky Password Manager into the application.
If you used versions of Kaspersky Password Manager that do not support updates, you can migrate your data into a new version of the application with the help of the import function. You must export the data vault to a file, then import it into the new version of Kaspersky Password Manager. You can import data files in the PWS, SPDB and PDB formats into Kaspersky Password Manager. Access to the contents of a data file is protected from unauthorized access by a master password. Only Kaspersky Password Manager can be used to access the contents of a data file.
If the application fails to import data as web accounts or application accounts (for example, due to a mismatch between the data format and the currently adopted user account format), Kaspersky Password Manager imports these accounts as notes. In this case, the account login is used as the note name and the account password is transformed into the note text.
When starting Kaspersky Password Manager for the first time, you can import a vault that has been saved when using an earlier version of the application, or you can create a new one.
To import a previously saved data vault from a file:
The application settings window opens.
Data from the selected file will be copied into Kaspersky Password Manager. Once the import is complete, the application will display a window containing a report on the number of imported account credentials.
