Creating a new template

To create a new template:

  1. On the Templates & StorageTemplates tab, click the Add button.

    The Add templatePrepare image page opens.

  2. Enter the template name in the Name field.

    The template name can have a maximum of 100 characters and contain only alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers), dots, hyphens, round brackets, and underscores.

    You can change the template name at any time later, if necessary.

  3. Enter a brief description for the template in the Description field (optional).

    The template description can have a maximum of 1000 characters.

    You can add or change the description at any time later, if necessary.

  4. In the Channel drop-down list, select a network channel that will be used by the object to access the internet:
    • Auto—Select this option to define a network channel automatically.
    • Tarpit—Select this option to emulate a network availability during the file execution, without real access to internet. When this option is selected, a connection from the virtual machine to any host is emulated. Tarpit channel makes simplified emulation of the following protocols: raw TCP/UDP, HTTP(S), ICMP, DNS.

    Other options in the list are set during Kaspersky Research Sandbox installation. For more details about available options, contact your administrator.

    If a network channel is not specified, network access will not be available during the custom environment configuration. You can change this parameter at any time later, if necessary.

  5. Choose ISO image in one of the following ways:
    • Select the required image in the ISO image drop-down list.
    • Click the Upload image button and select the required ISO file.
  6. Click the Proceed button.

A template (virtual machine) is created. The following virtual hardware resources are allocated for the created virtual machine:

When the template is created, it is displayed on the Templates tab on the Templates & Storage page and marked as Ready.
