Kaspersky Research Sandbox allows file and web address analysis in both default (pre-installed) and custom (created by user) execution environments.
Default templates are pre-installed Android, Linux, and specially prepared images imported by the Kaspersky Research Sandbox administrator.
Custom templates are images that were originally configured or imported by the user.
Originally deployed and successfully running environments will remain default and continue to operate without changes in OS and software parameters. Default environments are listed on the Environments → Default page.
If you edit a default template or create your own template, it becomes custom. In this case, all deployed from such template execution environments also will be custom. Custom environments are listed on the Environments → Custom page.
Kaspersky Research Sandbox does not allow to return the default status to the edited template, but you can import the default template from a .tar archive again. Since template names must be unique, you have to rename the edited template before importing, if you want to keep it, because the default template will be imported with the original name.
Since the mechanisms for efficient operation support in custom templates differ from default ones, they may not detect some threats that are detected when using default templates.
