Configuring NTP

The Network Time Protocol (NTP) serves to synchronize local time with the time of an NTP server.

To make sure the time is accurate on Kaspersky NGFW devices, you need to specify an NTP server for the Kaspersky NGFW devices. Precise date and time information is needed for logging and real-time analysis of device health.

To configure the NTP service:

  1. In the main menu of the Open Single Management Platform Console, go to the Application & Services → NGFW section.
  2. Proceed to configure the NTP service in one of the following ways:
    • If you want to configure NTP in a device template, in the menu, select the Network templates tab, click the device template, and select the NTP section.
    • If you want to configure NTP on a Kaspersky NGFW device, select the Devices tab in the menu, click a Kaspersky NGFW device, and select the NTP section.

This opens the NTP settings page.

  3. Enable the Override toggle switch (displayed only when viewing the NTP section on the device) to disable inheritance of settings from the device template.
  4. Enable the Status toggle switch to enable synchronization with time servers.
  5. If necessary, in the VRF drop-down list, select a custom virtual routing and forwarding table to be used when building a route to NTP servers.

By default, the Management virtual routing and forwarding table is used.

You cannot delete a virtual routing and forwarding table that is used by the NTP service.

The NTP service is enabled on the selected Kaspersky NGFW device or in the network template.

You can also configure NTP settings on the command line using the system family of commands. For a description of command families and a link to the complete list of Kaspersky NGFW configuration commands, see the Managing Kaspersky NGFW using the command line document.
