Cloning a security rule

To clone a rule:

  1. In the main menu of the Open Single Management Platform Console, go to the Application & Services → NGFW section.

    This opens the Policy tab.

  2. In the Firewall section, select Security rules.

This opens the table of security rules.

  3. Do one of the following:
    • Click the name of the rule.
    • Select the check box next to the rule that you want to edit, and in the upper part of the workspace, click the Clone button.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Clone and insert above gives the new rule a higher priority than the rule that you are cloning.
    • Clone and insert below gives the new rule a lower priority than the rule that you are cloning.

For details about rule priorities, see the section on changing the priority of rules.

A new security rule is added to the end of the table with the name <rule name>_copy_<N>, where <rule name> is the name of the security rule that was cloned, and <N> is a random number. This new security rule is a copy of the selected rule with the same settings.

  5. If necessary, edit the settings of the new security rule as necessary.
  6. Apply the OSMP policy changes by clicking the Commit and push button.

The security rule is created and is added to the table of rules. The cloned security rule does not apply to sessions established before this security rule was cloned.
