Backup copying and restoration of Kaspersky Next XDR Expert data

Data backup allows you to save a full copy of Kaspersky Next XDR Expert data. During the backup process, the operation of Kaspersky Next XDR Expert components are temporarily suspended to ensure data consistency. After the backup is created, it is saved in the network folder on a separate server, and then the solution resumes its functioning. You can create a backup manually or according to the specified schedule.

Following this scenario, you can configure the backup storage, set up the scheduled backup or create a backup manually, manage your backups, and restore Kaspersky Next XDR Expert data from the backup.

Stages

The backup copying and restoration of Kaspersky Next XDR Expert data proceeds in stages:

  1. Configure the backup storage

Specify the path to the network folder for storing backups. This network folder must be located on a separate server and must be available from the Kubernetes cluster by using the CIFS or NFS protocol.

To prevent an overload of the network folder, the maximum number of backups that can be stored in the network folder is limited. By default, you can create up to 10 backups. You can set the maximum number of backups by using the backup_retain parameter when creating a backup manually or when configuring a backup schedule. If the network folder already contains the maximum number of backups, the next backup will overwrite the oldest one.

Because the available space in the network folder isn’t checked automatically, we recommend regularly monitoring the free space in this folder to prevent backup failures.

  2. Create a backup copy of Kaspersky Next XDR Expert data

Use one of the following ways to create a backup:

    • Scheduled backup

If you want to create backups according to a schedule, you have to configure the schedule by using KDT. You can specify only one backup schedule. Creating a new schedule will replace the existing one. Additionally, you can view the current schedule, and pause or resume automatic backups.

Before using the automatic scheduled backup, we recommend creating a backup manually to ensure that the network folder for storing backups is configured correctly and is accessible.

    • Manual backup

If you need to save a backup without waiting for the next automatic backup, you can create a manual backup.

A backup is saved to the specified network folder. You can view the list of available backups and details of each backup.

KDT logs provide detailed information about the results of the backup operation, including its success or failure, the date and time of execution, and the name and location of the backup copy.

  3. Restore Kaspersky Next XDR Expert data from the backup copy

Restore the backup copy to roll back Kaspersky Next XDR Expert to a saved state.
