Upgrade to a trial version of Kaspersky Endpoint Security

You can upgrade from Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business to Kaspersky Endpoint Security and activate a trial license for the application to get more comprehensive protection for your computer. At the end of the trial period, you can decide whether you want to buy a commercial license for Kaspersky Endpoint Security or switch back to protection provided by Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business.

Keep in mind that protection settings will not be migrated from Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business to Kaspersky Endpoint Security.

Prerequisites:

  • Kaspersky Endpoint Security requires 2 GB of free disk space on the hard drive.
  • Check your computer for the presence of other protection software.
  • Ensure that there are no other software installations or updates running during installation of Kaspersky Endpoint Security. For more details, see this article.
  • Make sure that the trial license for Kaspersky Endpoint Security was not previously activated on your computer.
  • Make sure that that there are no blocked or unremoved threats detected by Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business on your computer. If blocked items are found, remove them manually using the paths specified in the blocked list.

If some of these prerequisites are not met, the application will display an error message.

Sometimes Kaspersky Endpoint Security cannot be installed for reasons beyond our control. In this case, you will be asked to remove Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business using the kavremover tool and then reinstall Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business. After that, you can start the upgrade operation again.

During the upgrade process, your computer's protection will be temporarily disabled.

To upgrade to Kaspersky Endpoint Security

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Switch the Enhance protection toggle to On.
  3. In the Protection Upgrade window, click the Next button and go through the wizard steps.

    This wizard will seamlessly install and activate Kaspersky Endpoint Security.

  4. During the upgrade process you will be asked to accept agreements provided by Kaspersky Endpoint Security.
  5. After the wizard is complete, your computer will be protected by Kaspersky Endpoint Security.

You can always switch back to Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business.

After the upgrade, Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business will be in the deactivated state. This means that the user interface of the application will be blocked and protection drivers will be removed.

Switch back to Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool

If you are not ready to buy the commercial license for Kaspersky Endpoint Security, you can switch back to Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business at any time. You can do it manually or you will be transfered to Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business automatically in about a month.

To switch back to Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business manually

  1. Run Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business from the Start menu.
  2. The Go back to Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business dialog opens.
  3. Click the Go back button and go through the wizard steps.
  4. You will be prompted to enter administrator credentials for Kaspersky Endpoint Security to perform the uninstallation.
  5. After the wizard is complete, Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business will be activated on your computer.

Please note that protection settings specified for Kaspersky Endpoint Security will not be migrated to Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business.

During the downgrade process, your computer's protection will be temporarily disabled.

In some cases, you may get an error message that you need to uninstall Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business using the kavremover tool and then reinstall the application.
