Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) is an open standard for the secure exchange of authentication and authorization data between an enterprise identity provider and client programs.

Single Sign-On (SSO)

A mechanism allowing users to access multiple program resources with a single account.

userPrincipalName

UserPrincipalName (UPN) is the user's name as an email address, for example username@domain.com.

The UPN doesn't have to match the user's actual email address. In this example, username is the user's name in the Active Directory domain (user login name), and domain.com is the UPN suffix. The @ symbol is used as a divider between them. By default, Active Directory uses the Active Directory DNS domain name as the UPN suffix.

Verification provider

A service designed to store and manage the user credentials required to authenticate users in various systems.
