Configuring remote diagnostics of client devices

You can use remote diagnostics to perform the following operations remotely on client devices:

  • enabling and disabling tracing
  • changing the tracing level
  • uploading a trace file
  • uploading the remote installation log
  • uploading system event logs (syslog)
  • Starting, stopping, and restarting applications

Remote diagnostics of a client device is performed using the Administration Server in the remote diagnostics window.

To open the remote device diagnostics window for a device:

  1. In the main window of the Web Console, select DevicesManaged devices.

    The list of managed devices opens.

  2. In the list of managed devices, select the device for which you want to perform remote diagnostics, and click the link with the device name to open the device properties window.
  3. On the Advanced tab, select the Remote diagnostics section.

In the remote device diagnostics window, you can view the remote application installation log.

To view the remote application installation log on a device:

  1. Open the remote device diagnostics window:
  2. On the Event logs tab, in the Trace files section, click on the Remote installation logs link.

    The Device trace event logs window opens.
