How to update antivirus databases in Kaspersky Security Cloud 20
Updating the anti-virus databases requires an active license and an Internet connection.
By default, a database update is started as soon as you have installed the application. After that, the databases will be updated at optimal intervals. During virus outbreaks, updates are released and downloaded more often.
You can also run an update manually.
How to update the databases manually
To update databases of Kaspersky Security Cloud, use one of the following ways:
- In the lower right corner of Desktop, right-click the application icon and select Update in the shortcut menu.
If the application icon is hidden from the taskbar, click .
- In the main window of Kaspersky Security Cloud, click Database Update. To learn how to open the main application window, see this article.
Click Run update.
- Sign in to My Kaspersky.
Open the Devices tab and click Manage next to your device. Go to the Update section and click Run. For details, see this article.
Database update will start, if the computer is connected to the internet.
Update scope
The following files are downloaded and installed on your computer during an update:
- Anti-virus databases, which contain threat descriptions and methods used to combat them.
- Application modules, which close application vulnerabilities, as well as enhance existing functions and add new ones.
- New application versions, which are automatically installed.

How to find the databases release date
To find the date of the latest database update, point your mouse over the Kaspersky Security Cloud in the lower-left corner of the screen. If the application icon is hidden from the taskbar, click .
In the pop-up window, you will see the databases release date.
What to do in case of update problems
If you experience problems updating the databases, try looking up your issue in the Update errors section.
If the issue persists, submit a request to Kaspersky Customer Service by choosing the topic of your request.
