Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 6.0 Light Agent has the following new features:

  • The solution uses Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux 12.0 as the Light Agent for Linux. Virtual machines running Linux guest operating systems are protected using the following functions of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux:
    • File Threat Protection. Including:
      • Scanning file system objects located on the device's local drives, as well as any mounted and shared resources accessed via the SMB and NFS protocols.
      • Scanning critical areas (startup objects, boot sectors, process memory, and kernel memory).
      • Scanning containers, images, and namespaces.
      • Scanning removable drives when they are connected to the device.
    • Web Threat Protection.
    • Network Threat Protection.
    • Firewall Management.
    • Anti-Cryptor.
    • Device Control.
    • Application Control.
    • Behavior Detection.
    • System Integrity Monitoring.
    • Integration with the Kaspersky Managed Detection and Response (MDR) solution, which continuously searches for, detects, and eliminates threats aimed at your organization.
    • Integration with the Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response (KATA) solution ("EDR (KATA)"), a component of the Kaspersky Anti Targeted Attack Platform solution, which protects the IT infrastructure of organizations and promptly detects threats, such as zero-day attacks, targeted attacks, and advanced persistent threats (APTs).

When using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux in Light Agent mode, the following limitations apply:

    • Using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux in Light Agent mode is not supported:
      • On devices running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x operating systems.
      • On devices running CentOS 6.x operating systems.
      • On devices running operating systems for the Arm architecture.
      • On devices running Astra Linux operating systems in mandatory access control and closed software environment modes.
    • Managing the application using Kaspersky Security Center Cloud Console is not available.
    • Managing the application using the graphical user interface is not available.
    • The KESL container functionality is not supported.

The Light Agent for Windows component is not included in Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 6.0 Light Agent. If you want to protect virtual machines running Windows guest operating systems, you need to use the Light Agent for Windows component included in Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.2 Light Agent.

  • The list of Linux guest operating systems that Kaspersky Security can protect has expanded. For the list of supported operating systems, see the Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux Help.
  • We added the ability to protect virtual machines with Linux guest operating systems as part of an infrastructure that uses the following VDI-based solutions for creating virtual desktops:
    • VMware Horizon 8.x.
    • Termidesk VDI 3.3.
    • Basis.WorkPlace 1.98.2.
    • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 1912 LTSR with the latest updates installed.

There are limitations in the operation of the solution in a VDI based on Termidesk and Basis.Workplace. Please refer to the Knowledge Base for details.

  • Advanced SVM selection capabilities (use of connection tags and configuration of the SVM selection algorithm) are now available under the Standard license.
  • If you use a licensing scheme based on the number of protected virtual machines, you can simultaneously use keys corresponding to different license types (Standard license / Enterprise license) on an SVM, but only if they are different types of keys (a server key and a desktop key).
  • The SVM is transferred to the Ubuntu 22.04 operating system.
