Error “Failed to open a data vault” in Kaspersky Total Security 2018

How to check the user account permissions
- Right-click the vault shortcut, and select Properties in the shortcut menu.
- Go to the Security tab and click System in the Groups or user names section.
- Check the permissions for System. If Deny is selected for read, write and modify, click Edit.
- Clear the checkboxes in the Deny column.
- Click Apply.
How to reconnect a vault
- Copy the data vault to another folder, e.g. Documents.
- In the main window of Kaspersky Total Security 2018, click More tools.
- If you have problems opening the application window, see this guide.
- Click Data Encryption.
- Click I already have a data vault.
- Select the path to the vault and click Select.
- Click the Unlock button for that vault.
- Enter the password and click Open data vault in Windows explorer.
What to do if the vault still does not open
If the issue persists, submit a request with a detailed description of the issue to Kaspersky Lab Technical Support via the My Kaspersky portal. For information on how to use My Kaspersky, please refer to the Online Help page.
