Kaspersky Double VPN (also known as multi-hop) lets you create a chain of two VPN servers located in different countries. Chaining VPN servers in this way provides an extra layer of encryption that enhances security and privacy for your IP address.

The Double VPN functionality also lets you connect to a desired VPN server through an intermediate server if you cannot connect to the desired VPN server directly.

Kaspersky Double VPN uses nested encryption: the tunnel between the client and the exit server is embedded inside the tunnel between the client and the intermediate server, which provides an additional layer of encryption between the client and the intermediate server. In both cases, encryption is performed on the client; data is not decrypted on the intermediate server. That means the intermediate server does not have access to the client traffic passing through it.

In some cases, enabling a Double VPN connection slows your traffic, since it must go through two VPN servers potentially located thousands of miles apart.

Double VPN uses the Catapult Hydra protocol to establish the connection. Make sure that the Catapult Hydra or Auto (recommended) option is selected in the application settings.
