Changing the Administrator account password

The Administrator account with superuser privileges allows logging in to the system without using external services. The password of this account is valid for one year. When the administrator tries to log in to the application web interface with an expired password, a password change prompt is displayed. Authenticating with the Administrator account is possible only after changing the password.

To change the password of the Administrator account:

  1. In the application web interface window, select the Settings section, Application access subsection.
  2. Go to the Local administrator section.
  3. In the Old password field, enter the current password of the Administrator account.

    This password is initially configured during the installation of the application.

  4. In the New password field, enter the new password that satisfies the password requirements.

    The password requirements are listed under the field.

    Reusing the password is not allowed. Kaspersky Secure Mail Gateway matches the password against the last 24 previously used passwords. If a full match with one of the previously used passwords is detected, an error message is displayed.

  5. In the Confirm password field, enter the new password again.
  6. Click Save.

The password is changed.
