How to run a scan in Kaspersky Small Office Security 6
A scan is performed to search for infected files and malware. Kaspersky Small Office Security features several types of scans that vary in their duration and scope:
- Full Scan. Scans all areas of the computer. Requires a lot of time.
- Quick Scan. Scans objects that are loaded when the operating system starts, and scans the system memory and boot files. Does not require much time.
- Selective Scan. Scans a selected file or folder.
- Removable Drives Scan. Scans removable drives that are connected to the computer.
After installing Kaspersky Small Office Security, you are advised to run a full scan of the computer.
How to run a full scan or quick scan of the computer
You are advised to close other applications before running a full scan. How to start a scan:
- In the main window of Kaspersky Small Office Security, click Scan. To learn how to open the application, please refer to the instructions in this article.
- Select Full Scan or Quick Scan.
- Click Run scan.
- Select an action to take when the scan is finished:
- Keep the computer turned on.
- Shut down the computer.
- Switch the computer to sleep mode.
- Switch the computer to hibernation mode.
- Restart the computer.
The scan will be started. By default, the action recommended by Kaspersky experts will be performed when a threat is detected.
How to run a scan of individual files or folders

- Choose Selective Scan.
- Click Add, select the files or folders and click Select. You can also drag files that you want to scan to the application window.
- Click Run scan.
The scan will be started. By default, the action recommended by Kaspersky experts will be performed when a threat is detected.
How to run an External Device Scan
When you connect external drives to the computer, the Removable drive detected window appears in the notification area. To run a device scan, click Scan.
To run an external device scan from the application:

- Click External Device Scan.
- Select an external device and click Run scan.
The scan will be started. By default, the action recommended by Kaspersky experts will be performed when a threat is detected.
How to configure a scan schedule

- Click Scan schedule in the lower-left corner and select the scan type:
- Full Scan.
- Quick Scan.
- Vulnerability Scan.
- Select the time period for running the scan.
- Select the scan start settings. Click Save.
How to view a scan report

- Click Task Manager.
- Click Detailed report under the scan.
- Select the scan task and click Details in the lower-right corner.
How to stop a scan
