Functioning of Kaspersky Security 9.0 for Microsoft SharePoint Server depending on SharePoint server settings

The article concerns Kaspersky Security 9.0 for Microsoft SharePoint Server (version 9.0.37507.0).
 
 
 
 

Functioning of  Kaspersky Security 9.0 for Microsoft SharePoint Server when performing On-Access Scan depend on the SharePoint server settings. If the options Scan documents on upload and Scan documents on download are disabled, files will not be scanned for malicious objects.

Scanning files uploaded to a SharePoint server

Files uploaded to the SharePoint server will be scanned only if the check box Scan documents on upload is selected on the SharePoint server.

Depending an the antivirus scan settings on the SharePoint server, the application takes one of the following actions on a file uploaded to the SharePoint server: 

  • Block. The file will be blocked the the following cases: 
    • The Attempt to disinfect infected documents check box is not selected in the SharePoint server settings 
    • The Block option is selected in the on-access scan settings 
    • The Disinfect option is selected in the on-access scan settings, but the file cannot be disinfected. 
  • Disinfect
    • Kaspersky Security 9.0 for Microsoft SharePoint Server will attempt to disinfect the file in the check box Attempt to disinfect infected documents is selected in the SharePoint server settings and the Disinfect option is selected in the on-access scan settings 
  • Skip
    • Kaspersky Security 9.0 for Microsoft SharePoint Server will skip the file with viruses or unwanted content if the Skip option is selected in the application settings.

Scanning files downloaded from a SharePoint server

Files uploaded to the SharePoint server will be scanned only if the check box Scan documents on download is selected on the SharePoint server. 

Depending an the antivirus scan settings on the SharePoint server, the application takes one of the following actions on a file downloaded from the SharePoint server: 

  • Block. The application blocks the file if the user who is not a member of the server administrators group attempts to download the file from the server, and one of the following conditions is met: 
    • The Attempt to disinfect infected documents check box is not selected in the SharePoint server settings 
    • The Block option is selected in the on-access scan settings 
    • The Disinfect option is selected in the on-access scan settings, but the file cannot be disinfected, and the check box Allow users to download infected documents is not selected in the SharePoint server settings.
  • Disinfect. Kaspersky Security 9.0 for Microsoft SharePoint Server will attempt to disinfect the file if the check box Attempt to disinfect infected documents is selected in the SharePoint server settings and the Disinfect option is selected in the on-access scan settings
  • Warn about infected file downloads. Kaspersky Security 9.0 for Microsoft SharePoint Server will display a warning about a file with viral or unwanted content if the user trying to access the malicious file is a member of the SharePoint server administrators group. The warning will also be displayed if the check box  Allow users to download infected documents is not selected, and one of the following conditions is met:
    • The Attempt to disinfect infected documents check box is not selected in the SharePoint server settings 
    • The Block option is selected in the on-access scan settings 
    • The Disinfect option is selected in the on-access scan settings, but the file cannot be disinfected.
