Error messages in Kaspersky Update Utility 3.0

The table below contains error messages that may appear in Kaspersky Update Utility for Windows and Linux/FreeBSD.

Error text Reason
Failed to create folder The application cannot create the temporaryFolder or Updates folders.
The user account running the application does not have the permissions to create or modify these folders.
Not enough permissions The application cannot access the files in the update source or copy files into the folder.
The user account running the application does not permission to access the update source, or to create or modify the temporaryFolder or Updates folders.
No such file or directory The application cannot locate the requested file or folder in the update source.
The user account running the application does not have permission to access the update source.
There is no such file or folder in the update source.
File does not exist on update source The requested file does not exist in the update source.
Start the update again.
No source contains valid update files or source list is not configured The update source specified in the settings doesn’t contain any updates.
Check the parameters in the application settings or in the updater.ini file.
All files are up-to-date The Updates folder contains the same set of databases as the update source.
Not all components are updated The application did not download updates for all components.
Download the updates once again. If you are updating from a local source, check the assigned databases are correct.
Incorrect product configuration Internal application error. The error may occur when Kaspersky Update Utility and Kaspersky Lab applications download updates simultaneously.
Make sure the full application path (both graphical and console versions) contains Latin characters only.
Invalid file signature Error verifying database or patch file signature.
Start the update once again. Start the update process once again.
If you are updating from a local source, update the databases on it from the Kaspersky Lab servers and try again.
Generic file operation failure Internal application error while processing files.
Download the updates once again.
The user account running the application does not have permission to access the update source, or create or modify the temporaryFolder or Updates folders.
Operation canceled The operation being performed by the application was stopped by the user.
Index file damaged. File is not valid XML structure or does not exist The requested index file does not exist in the update source.
If you are downloading from a local source, check the assigned databases are correct.
If you are downloading from Kaspersky Lab servers, try downloading the updates once again.
Updater logic error Internal application error.
Restart the application later.
Download error Network error when downloading updates.
Check your connection settings, the availability of update sources, and the list of sources in the application settings.
Connection has been closed by remote host Connection was closed.
Check the connection channel and start the update again.
Network operation timeout expired A large number of connections to the update source.
Restart the update later.
Failed to authorize on FTP server User account authentication error on FTP server.
Make sure that the user account can access the FTP server.
Check the connection parameters in the application settings.
Failed to authorize on proxy server User account authentication error on the proxy server.
Make sure that the user account can access the proxy server.
Check the connection and user account parameters in the application settings.
Failed to resolve source DNS name Check network connection settings, name resolution, access to DNS server, Internet access, and the update source address.
Retranslation successful and update is not requested Anti-virus databases and modules for the selected applications were successfully downloaded.
Connection to source can not be established Make sure the connection parameters in the application settings are correct.
Check the connection channel.
Authorization on update source failed User account authentication failed on the HTTP or FTP server.
The application does not support HTTP or FTP resources that request authentication.
Select another update source. Grant access to the HTTP or FTP server without authorization.
Failed to establish connection to proxy server Incorrect proxy server address set.
Check the network connection parameters in the utility properties, the proxy server address and its availability, as well as the network connection parameters in the operating system settings.
Proxy server DNS name resolution error Incorrect proxy server or DNS server address.
Check the network connection parameters in the application settings, and network connection properties in the operating system settings.

If the issue persists, send a request to Kaspersky Lab technical support via Kaspersky CompanyAccount. Attach trace files and the Updater.ini configuration file to your request.
