When attempting to download or upload a Microsoft SharePoint portal file, you may encounter the following error: "The installed scanning software is currently unavailable. If the problem persists, contact your administrator". At the same time, the following event are reflected in the application event log:
The error occurs on the SharePoint server side, if the server does not provide the VSAPI interceptor with the body of the scanned file. This may happen because of a file access error in the SharePoint base.
The message "Antivirus scan timeout" may occur both in case of an actual timeout or any VSAPI scan error while scanning the file. The error "The installed scanning software is currently unavailable" actually means "Antivirus scan completed with an error".
