On February 05, 2013 Kaspersky Lab announced the release of Patch B for Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows (version 8.1.0.831).

Issues fixed

Patch B covers the following issues:

  • Fixed the error that caused the local update task to start regardless of the policy applied.

  • A computer from which a network attack was attempted is now displayed correctly in the network attack detection event in Kaspersky Security Center reports.

  • The data in the Action field is now correctly displayed in the Kaspersky Security Center report on detected viruses.

  • Move to Quarantine option has been removed from the Windows Explorer context menu.

  • Fixed the error that caused Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows to hang.

  • The "Restart Required" status of the computer is now displayed correctly in Kaspersky Security Center.

  • Fixes covered by patch pf69 have been included into autopatch B.

  • The size of the task report file is now limited to 1 GB.

Different application modes depending on license type

After Patch B is installed, support for licenses of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, a new line of Kaspersky corporate products, is added to Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows.
Depending on the type of license, the product can operate in various modes. For details please refer to Different application modes depending on license type of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows

When a user activates a license that downgrades the current level of protection, the components that are not covered by this license behave in the same way as they do when the active license expires or the user chooses not to use a license.

To distribute new types of licenses using a group task for license distribution, you should install a new plug-in for managing Kaspersky Security Center version 8.1.0.898.

Localized versions of new plug-in:

You should uninstall an old plug-in  prior to installing a new one.
Without installation of the new plug-in, the license can be distributed using the keys repository feature of Kaspersky Security Center.
