About Kaspersky Password Manager

Kaspersky Password Manager protects all your passwords and other sensitive information (for example, passport details, and financial or medical records) with a single master password. You can install Kaspersky Password Manager on desktop computers, laptops, and mobile devices running Microsoft Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS to keep all your data safe and in sync.

Hardware and software requirements

You can install Kaspersky Password Manager for Android on a smartphone or tablet that meets the following requirements:

How Kaspersky Password Manager protects your data

Kaspersky Password Manager encrypts data using a symmetric key algorithm based on the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). A key is derived from your master password using Password-Based Key Derivation Function 2 (PBKDF2).

The AES algorithm is used worldwide to protect top-secret data. This algorithm has low RAM requirements, which means your data is encrypted and decrypted within seconds.

Master password

The master password is a single password that Kaspersky Password Manager uses to protect all your data, including other passwords. You create the master password during the initial setup of Kaspersky Password Manager. Every time you try to access the data vault, Kaspersky Password Manager prompts you for the master password. If your device runs Android 6.0 or later, supports fingerprint authentication and fingerprint authentication is enabled in the app settings, you can use it to unlock your vault instead of entering the master password.

It is recommended that you set a master password that is at least eight characters long and contains uppercase and lowercase letters, digits, and special characters.

For security reasons, Kaspersky Password Manager doesn't store the master password on any of your devices or in cloud storage. We recommend that you memorize your master password, or write it down and keep it in a secure place, because it can't be restored or recovered if forgotten.

If you forget your master password, you will no longer be able to access your data. In this case, you will have to create a new vault and protect it with a new master password. Then you will be able to add new data to the vault.

Data types protected by Kaspersky Password Manager

You can add several types of entries to Kaspersky Password Manager and organize your entries by moving them into folders.

Website and app accounts

An account is a combination of a login and password required to authenticate a user on a website or in an app.

For websites, Kaspersky Password Manager saves the following information to the entry:

• Website name. Use a meaningful website name to quickly find the website that you want to edit or log in to.
• Website address. Kaspersky Password Manager uses this field to recognize a website's sign-in page and offer accounts you can use to sign in.
• Accounts. You can save multiple accounts for a website. For example, you might have personal and business email addresses from the same email provider.

For apps, Kaspersky Password Manager saves the following information to the entry:

• App name. Use a meaningful name to quickly find the entry you need.
• Accounts. You can save multiple accounts for an app.

For quicker access, accounts for websites and accounts for apps are stored separately.

Bank cards

You can add bank card numbers, other details, PINs, and the card issuer's customer support contact information to Kaspersky Password Manager.

Addresses

You can save addresses, names, email addresses, and phone numbers in address entries.

Images

You can store important images (for example, scanned IDs) in Kaspersky Password Manager to keep them safe and always close at hand.

Notes

You can use notes to store any kind of text information.

Notes are encrypted and stored the same way as other data types.

You can use the clipboard to copy and paste note text to a web page or application.

Install the app

1. Open the Play Store app on your device.
2. Find Kaspersky Password Manager by entering Kaspersky Password Manager in the app's search field, and tapping ENTER.
3. Select Kaspersky Password Manager in the search results.

   The app page opens.

4. On the app page, tap Install.
5. View the list of permissions Kaspersky Password Manager needs.
   • If you agree to grant the app required permissions, tap Install.

     The installation of the app begins.

   • If you refuse to grant the app required permissions, tap Back.

     This cancels the installation of the app.

If a device running the Android operating system has modified firmware, there is an increased risk that the device will be hacked and your data will be stolen or corrupted.

Update the app from previous version

If you update to Kaspersky Password Manager 9.0 or later from earlier versions, your web accounts, app accounts, and notes will remain unchanged. However, your identities will be converted into bank card, address, and note entries. If an identity contains a bank card without a number, Kaspersky Password Manager fills it out with zeros. Kaspersky Password Manager saves identity fields containing information other than bank card or address data (e.g. personal information, financial or business information) to new notes.

To comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), when updating Kaspersky Password Manager to version 9.1, you will be asked to again accept the End User License Agreement, Products and Services Privacy Policy, and the Statement regarding data processing for marketing purposes.

You can update Kaspersky Password Manager using the Google Play service.

To update the app using Google Play you must:

• Have a Google Account.
• Link your device to your Google Account.
• Have access to the Internet.

From Kaspersky Password Manager 9.0, the app is not compatible with previous versions of the app.

In Kaspersky Password Manager 9.0 or later, your data will be permanently converted to the new format. If you have a previous version of Kaspersky Password Manager on other devices connected to the same My Kaspersky account, you must update the app to version 9.0 or later to sync data across your devices and cloud storage. Alternatively, you can create a new My Kaspersky account to use with previous versions of the app.

Get started with Kaspersky Password Manager

You need to set up the app for use after you install the app. At first startup, follow the steps in the app.

Set up the app at first startup

Kaspersky Password Manager uses the master password to protect your data. When you start Kaspersky Password Manager for the first time, you must create a master password. Don't use a password that can be easily guessed (for example, based on last names, first names, or dates of birth). To create a strong password, use uppercase and lowercase letters, digits, and special characters.

You can't access your vault without the master password. If you lose the master password, you will also lose access to all your data in the vault.

When Kaspersky Password Manager starts, it prompts you to:

• Create a master password for the vault, if it is the first time you have used Kaspersky Password Manager.
• Enter the existing master password, if you have previously created a master password and used Kaspersky Password Manager.

You can change the master password at any time.

If your device is running Android 6.0 or later and supports fingerprint authentication, you can enable it when creating a master password and then use to unlock the vault.

About the End User License Agreement

The End User License Agreement (License Agreement) is a binding agreement between you and AO Kaspersky Lab that stipulates the terms on which you may use the app.

Carefully read the License Agreement before you start using the app.

By installing Kaspersky Password Manager, you confirm that you understand and accept the terms of the License Agreement. If you don't accept the terms of the License Agreement, cancel installation of Kaspersky Password Manager and don't use the app.

About the license

A license is a right to use the app, granted under the End User License Agreement.

A license entitles you to:

• Use the app on one or more devices.
• Get assistance from Technical Support.
• Receive updates.

Kaspersky Password Manager is available in two versions:

• Free version. The free version of the app is distributed free of charge and can be used for an unlimited period of time. If you use the free version of Kaspersky Password Manager, the number of entries that you can add to the vault is limited.
• Premium version. If you buy a license for the premium version of Kaspersky Password Manager, you can add an unlimited number of entries to the vault. Licenses for the premium version of Kaspersky Password Manager are time-limited.

  When your license for the premium version of Kaspersky Password Manager expires, you can either renew it or switch to the free version. If you switch to the free version and have more entries than are allowed in the free version, you must choose which entries to keep. All other data will remain in the vault but will be unavailable for use.

After your license for the premium version of Kaspersky Password Manager expires, you may be offered a grace period during which you can continue using the app without limitations. If you don't renew your license by the end of the grace period, the app will switch to the free version. To switch back to the premium version, buy a new license.

About the subscription

A subscription for Kaspersky Password Manager Premium is the purchase of the right to use the application according to specific parameters (for example, subscription expiration date, number of devices). You can order a subscription for Kaspersky Password Manager from a service provider (for example, on Google Play or the App Store).

You can manage your subscription via your personal account page on the service provider's website (for example, via your Apple account or Google Account).

A subscription can be renewed automatically or manually. An auto-renewed subscription automatically renews at the end of each subscription period until you cancel it. A manually renewed subscription must be renewed at the end of each subscription period. When a manually renewed subscription expires, you might be granted a grace period, during which the application remains fully functional.

Buying a license or ordering a subscription for Kaspersky Password Manager Premium does not cancel your other subscriptions that include Kaspersky Password Manager Premium. To avoid additional charges, make sure you have canceled or disabled auto-renew for subscriptions that you don’t need.

Kaspersky Password Manager checks if the license for the premium version of the app is available every time the app is started.

If you use the premium version of the app, you can find out the number of days remaining until your license expires by viewing the information about the license.

If the license has expired, Kaspersky Password Manager prompts you to switch to the free version of the app or renew the license.

Switch to the free version

When your license for the premium version of Kaspersky Password Manager expires, you can switch to the free version.

In the free version, you can keep a limited number of entries. If you have more entries than are allowed in the free version, the app prompts you to choose which entries you want to keep using in the free version. The other entries (except images) will be saved as inactive and will be available only for viewing. If you have less active entries than are allowed in the free version, you can activate inactive entries.

We recommend that you copy your images back from Kaspersky Password Manager to your device before switching to the free version. Otherwise, you will lose any images not selected to be used with the free version.

You can view information about the data provided to Kaspersky Lab using previous versions of the application:

1. For the Rightholder and/or its Partners to fulfill their obligations under this License Agreement, the Rightholder needs to receive and process information, as follows:
   • Management of acquired licenses and operation mode of the Software via the Web-Portal

     The Web Portal helps You remotely manage Your acquired licenses and operation mode of the Software. This functionality requires that the Rightholder receive from Your Computer and process Your email address and the unique identifier in the Rightholder’s services, information about the installed Software, the acquired license, information about the Computer, specifically

     • Web-Portal account login and password, user ID, Computer locale, flag indicating whether the user agrees to provide his / her e-mail address to receive personalized marketing offers
     • Temporary identifier for user authentication in Kaspersky Lab services, data on Software authentication in Kaspersky Lab services, session identifier for the authentication of Software installation
     • Service ID, Computer ID, Computer type and name, OS type and version, Software ID, Software locale and version
   • Providing You with the core functionality of the acquired Software

     The core functionality of the Software as described in the User Manual is to provide safe storage of Your account information (logins and passwords), data about Your bank cards, addresses, notes, images, and other important information during use of the Computer. To provide this core functionality, while You are using the Software the Rightholder has to receive from Your device and process information about the installed Software, the acquired license, the scanned objects, detected threats on the Computer, information about the Computer, the Computer’s activity on the internet, specifically:

     • Information about user authentication: Web-Portal account login and password, user ID, temporary identifier for user authentication in Kaspersky Lab services, data on Software authentication in Kaspersky Lab services, session identifier for the authentication of Software installation, service ID
     • Information about the Computer: Computer ID, type, name, model, brand, OS type, and version, hostname, SHA-256 hash sum of the device (MAC + My Kaspersky user ID), detection technology and its version
     • Information about the Software: Software ID, version, build number, locale, Kaspersky Password Manager service ID, protocol version, installation ID, session ID, IP address, and domain name of website which triggered action by the Software
     • Identifier of entry in the password database, entry type (account, address, bank card, image, note), encrypted entry contents, encrypted preview of image, hash of master password, password database version, and encryption parameters
     • Item identifier on Google Play / App Store, purchase identifier, purchase time and status, purchase receipt for My Kaspersky registration, transaction identifier, and protocol version
2. Data processing by providers of Third-Party services. The work of the specific functionality of the Software is provided via access and/or use of Third-Party services as specified in this License Agreement. For the fulfilment of obligations under this License Agreement, the provider of the Third-Party services needs to receive and process information, as follows:
   • Information received by the provider of the Third-Party services directly from the Software
     • To provide the core functionality of the Software, the provider of the Third-Party services has to receive and process User ID and images that You upload during use of the Software. Images are encrypted locally on the Computer using the End User's password and sent to the provider already encrypted over a secure channel.

       The Rightholder is not responsible for the processing of data when You use the Third-Party services. By using the Software to access and/or use third-party services, you are responsible for acquainting yourself with the data processing rules and procedures described in the privacy policy of the provider of the Third-Party services.

       The provider of the Third-Party service processes information in accordance with its privacy policy. You can find and read its complete content at https://aws.amazon.com/privacy/.

     • To ensure the uninterrupted operation of the Software the provider of the Third-Party services has to process and receive the following information about the license You have acquired, and the Computer where You will install the Software, specifically:
       • Information about an abnormal termination (crash) of the Software: unique event identifier, date and time of the Software installation and event, identifier indicating the screen orientation, text of the error message, flag indicating whether the Software was running in the background, battery level, and battery discharge rate; if a fatal signal was raised, its name and integer code
       • Information about the Software installed on the Computer: the Software bundle identifier and the full version number of the Software, the uint64 instruction pointer of every frame of every currently running thread
       • For each binary image loaded into the application: its name, UUID, byte size, and the uint64 base address at which it was loaded into RAM
       • Information about the Computer: OS and version, Computer model, CPU architecture, total RAM and amount currently used, total disk space and amount currently used, flag indicating whether the Computer is rooted
       • If available in the runtime, the plain-text method or function name containing each instruction pointer, the uint64 value of each register on the CPU, а Boolean indicating whether the device's proximity sensor was triggered
       • Name and version of the operating system
       • Android ID and Android Advertising ID

       The Rightholder is not responsible for the processing of data when You use the Third-Party services. By using the Software to access and/or use third-party services, you are responsible for acquainting yourself with the data processing rules and procedures described in the privacy policy of the provider of the Third-Party services.

       The provider of the Third-Party service processes information in accordance with its privacy policy. You can find and read its complete content at https://try.crashlytics.com/terms/.

3. When You provide Your data through the Software to the Rightholder, the Rightholder handles it according to its Privacy Policy, which describes, in particular, the manner by which the Rightholder protects Your data, where the Rightholder processes Your data, and your rights as the data subject. 4. For the purpose of improving the quality of the app and analyzing user satisfaction, you agree to automatically provide the following information:
   • User's review
   • Rating
   • Device operating system
   • Device model
   • App version
   • Device locale
   • License type
5. To improve operational protection, you agree to automatically provide the following information:
   • App name
   • App version
   • Device locale
   • License status
   • Device operating system
   • Redirect link type
6. To comply with legislation, you agree to automatically provide the following information:
   • App ID
   • App version
   • Device ID
   • Installation ID
   • Agreement ID
   • Agreement version
   • User verdict
   • Verdict time
7. Vault will be synced with your personal storage on the Rightholder's trusted partners’ servers around the world. These data, along with the data on your device, are stored encrypted. Your personal secret key is used to perform the encryption. The Rightholder and Partners are unable to access your data. To use the software, you must register your Account by providing your email address. Keep in mind that uninstalling the software from your device does not delete the data from the servers used in the synchronization process. These data may be completely deleted only after deleting your Account. To do this, contact Kaspersky Lab's Technical Support Service.

   For the purposes of allowing the Rightholder to create effective marketing and informational materials, you agree to automatically provide the following information to AppsFlyer, Firebase, and Google Analytics:

   • To AppsFlyer:
     • Information about the installed Software: name and version, Software ID, installation date on the User's Computer, first launch flag, date of the first launch, and preinstalled Software flag.
     • Information about the User's Computer: type, brand, model name, unique identifier, information about the type of network connection, language (locale) of the Computer, IP address, operating system version, User’s computer name, Android ID, User Agent.
     • Name of the mobile operator, carrier.
     • Information about the AppsFlyer SDK used in the Software: SDK version and build number, AppsFlyer transaction identifier, Advertiser ID, flag indicating use of the Advertiser ID, Rightholder’s unique identifier in the AppsFlyer service, AppsFlyer license key.
     • User’s unique identifier in Google services.
     • Timestamp and name of the event about which data is submitted, value of the event counter.

     Data is forwarded to AppsFlyer over a secure channel. Information about how data is processed in AppsFlyer is published at: https://www.appsflyer.com/privacy-policy/.

   • To Firebase:
     • Information about Software installed on the Computer: instance ID, version, name of the store where the application was obtained, timestamp of the first launch of the Software, app foreground or background state, app package name, a pseudonymous app-instance identifier, network, and the following corresponding information: response codes, payload size in bytes, response times, duration times for automated traces.
     • Information about the use of the Software: event type, functional mode (free/premium), license name and name of the Software window or dialog that is active when data is submitted.
     • Information about the Users’ Computer where the Software is installed: Computer brand, category, model and orientation, RAM and disk size, version and language (locale) of the operating system; information about whether the application was first opened in the last 7 days or more than 7 days ago.
     • Carrier, radio/network information, IP address, geography, locale/language, signal strength, jailbroken or rooted status of device, battery level and battery-charging state.
     • Advertising ID, Android ID.
     • Information about the User: User’s age category and gender, country of residence, and list of interests.

     Data is forwarded to Firebase over a secure channel. Information about how data is processed in Firebase is published at: https://www.firebase.com/terms/privacy-policy.html.

   • To Google Analytics:
     • Software version, Software name in the Google service, Software ID and product ID in the Google service.
     • Unique identifier of the instance of application installation on the Computer, and information about the language (locale) of the device.
     • Screen resolution; name of the Software window or dialog that is active when data is submitted; time stamps of the start and end of the period during which the selected window or dialog was active; duration of the session during which the window was active.
     • Version of the protocol used to submit data to Google Analytics.
     • Identifier of the event about which data is submitted.
     • Identifiers of application operations and the result of these operations.
     • User’s unique identifier in Google services.

     Data is forwarded to Google Analytics over a secure channel. Information about how data is processed in Google Analytics is published at: www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/.

   Access to and protection of the information are governed by the corresponding terms of use of the AppsFlyer, Firebase, and Google Analytics services.

Compliance with European Union law

When distributed in the European Union, Kaspersky Password Manager complies with the terms of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

When you accept the End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy, you confirm that you are of the required age to install Kaspersky Password Manager within the European Union. After Kaspersky Password Manager is installed, you will be offered to read and accept the terms and conditions required for initial setup and use of Kaspersky Password Manager.

There is also an additional statement you will be asked to accept: the Statement regarding data processing for marketing purposes that is required so that Kaspersky Lab could make more beneficial offers to you. If you choose to accept this statement, you will be able to decline it in the app settings at any time.

Start the app

For security reasons, Kaspersky Password Manager automatically blocks access to the vault after a specified period of inactivity. By default, the vault is locked automatically after your device has been idle for 1 minute. You can access your data only when the vault is unlocked.

By default, Kaspersky Password Manager stops working when the device is turned off.

You can quit the app manually if Task Manager is installed on the device.

You can open websites from Kaspersky Password Manager. The app opens the website in its safe browser, automatically enters your login and password, and signs you in to the website. You can also open websites in Chrome and fill out the login and password fields using the Kaspersky Password Manager extension.

On devices running Android 5.0 or later, Kaspersky Password Manager can automatically fill in logins and passwords only in Chrome. To allow this you must turn on the accessibility features in Chrome. If your device is running Android 6.0 or later, enable the extension to allow windows to be displayed over other apps. On certain devices (for example, Xiaomi), you might be prompted to do this on Android 5.0 or later.

You can add, edit, or remove website accounts and copy them to the clipboard. You can organize your entries by selecting them and moving them into a folder.

You can save multiple accounts for signing in to the same website.

When you visit a website using Chrome, Kaspersky Password Manager prompts you to choose the account you want to use to sign in from the list of available accounts. If you sign in to a website added to Kaspersky Password Manager with a login that has not yet been added to Kaspersky Password Manager, the app automatically recognizes the login as new and prompts you to add another account for the website. If you sign in to a website with an existing login but a new password, Kaspersky Password Manager prompts you to save the new password for the existing account.

Autofill forms and automatic sign in to websites

When you visit a website, Kaspersky Password Manager searches for accounts that you have saved for that website. Based on the search results and your current settings, Kaspersky Password Manager may either sign you in, offer accounts to choose from, or prompt you to create a new account:

• If there is one account for the website, Kaspersky Password Manager fills out the login and password.
• If there are multiple accounts for the website, Kaspersky Password Manager prompts you to choose the account that you want to sign in with.
• If there are no accounts for the website, Kaspersky Password Manager prompts you to add one.

Kaspersky Password Manager saves the last 5 websites you open from the main app window or the Kaspersky Password Manager extension. You can view your browsing history by tapping Recents on the quick access bar.

On devices running Android 5.0 or later, Kaspersky Password Manager can automatically fill in logins and passwords only in Chrome. To allow this you must turn on the accessibility features in Chrome. If your device is running Android 6.0 or later, enable the extension to allow windows to be displayed over other apps.    • Tap Delete to delete the original image from your device and keep only its copy in the vault.

   The image window opens.

6. In the Name field enter a name for the entry.
7. If needed, add a comment to the Comment field.
8. If needed, tap to rotate your image.
9. Tap Save.

The image entry appears in the Images window. If you want to view the image details, expand the entry and tap Open.

A password is considered strong if it contains at least eight characters, including uppercase and lowercase Latin letters, digits, and special characters. Sort and group entries

By default, entries are displayed in alphabetical order. You can sort entries manually and create folders to group entries. You can add entries of any type to a folder. Folders are always displayed before entries in alphabetical order and can't be sorted manually. Folders sync across your devices. Sort settings don't sync across devices.

Sync data across devices

If you forget the master password

For security reasons, Kaspersky Password Manager doesn't store the master password on any of your devices or in cloud storage. We recommend that you memorize your master password, or write it down and keep it in a secure place, because it can't be restored or recovered if forgotten.

If you forget your master password, you will no longer be able to access your data. In this case, you will have to create a new vault and protect it with a new master password. Then you will be able to add new data to the vault.

Disconnect a device from My Kaspersky

You can disconnect your device from My Kaspersky, for example, if you no longer want to use the device. Disconnecting a device from My Kaspersky will also disconnect all Kaspersky Lab apps installed on the device. Known issues

Kaspersky Password Manager has the following known issues:

• The vault status icon might not be displayed in the notification bar on certain devices even though the corresponding setting is turned on.
• On HTC devices, you can only enter the password into the password field in English using the standard keyboard. You can't change the language. To use the app on HTC devices, use a password that contains only symbols found in the English keyboard layout.
• Setting up the app for the first time on a new device may take considerable time if the existing cloud storage is too big.
• Changing the master password may take considerable time if the existing cloud storage is too big.
• After the license expires, the app prompts the user to download images from the cloud storage to Kaspersky Password Manager. This may take considerable time if the user has selected a large number of images not previously downloaded.
• Considerable time may be required to simultaneously add a large number of images to the cloud storage. If Kaspersky Password Manager stops responding, the sync will continue the next time the app is started.
• Issues with autofilling logins and passwords in Chrome:
  • If the app prompts to turn on accessibility features while the setting is already enabled, try to turn it off and then turn it on again. If the problem persists, restart the device or contact Technical Support.
  • On certain devices, logins and passwords may not be autofilled or may not be autofilled correctly in Chrome. This may be due to specifics of the firmware. To resolve the issue:
    • On Huawei devices, you can add Kaspersky Password Manager to the list of apps that are never stopped by the system when the device is blocked.
    • On Xiaomi devices, you can add Kaspersky Password Manager to the list of apps that are allowed to run in the background.
• Kaspersky Safe Kids content filtering is not applied to websites that you open from Kaspersky Password Manager.
