How to generate Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows trace files using registry keys
This article concerns Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows:
- Service Pack 2 Maintenance Release 4 (version 10.3.3.304)
- Service Pack 2 Maintenance Release 3 (version 10.3.3.275)
- Service Pack 2 Maintenance Release 2 (version 10.3.0.6294)
- Service Pack 2 Maintenance Release 1 (version 10.3.0.6294)
- Service Pack 2 (version 10.3.0.6294)
- Service Pack 1 Maintenance Release 4 (version 10.2.6.3733)
After the installing Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows, Windows may stop responding or return a stop error at system startup, or when starting a task. This most probably happens due to a conflict between Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows and other software installed on the computer, or with hardware drivers.
To solve such issues, Kaspersky Technical Support engineers may request application trace files.
If it is not possible to enable traces from the GUI, please follow the recommendations below.
1. How to enable or disable trace file generation using registry keys
The .reg files listed below should be run in the safe mode. You must reproduce the problem in the normal mode.
In order to enable or disable trace file generation using registry keys:
- Make sure your user account has administrator privileges.
- Download the archive and extract the files from it:
- For Kaspersky Endpoint Security MR1 KES10_trace_on_off.zip
- For Kaspersky Endpoint Security SP1 KES10SP1_trace_on_off.zip
- For Kaspersky Endpoint Security SP2 KES10SP2_trace_on_off.zip
- Enable trace file generation by running the following file from the archive:
- For 32-bit operating systems: Trace_ON_x32.reg
- For 64-bit operating systems: Trace_ON_x64.reg
- Reproduce the issue.
- Disable trace file generation by running the following file from the archive:
- For 32-bit operating systems: Trace_OFF_x32.reg
- For 64-bit operating systems: Trace_OFF_x64.reg
By default, trace files are generated in the %ProgramData%/Kaspersky Lab hidden folder. To access the folder, enable display of hidden files and folders.
2. How to save trace files to a custom folder using registry keys
The .reg files listed below should be run in the safe mode. You must reproduce the problem in the normal mode.
To save trace files to the C:\trace\ folder:
- Make sure your user account has administrator privileges.
- Create a trace folder on disk C.
- Download the archive and extract the files from it:
- For Kaspersky Endpoint Security MR1 KES10_trace_path.zip
- For Kaspersky Endpoint Security SP1 KES10SP1_trace_path.zip.
- For Kaspersky Endpoint Security SP2 KES10SP2_trace_path.zip.
- To change the path to C:\trace, run the following file from the archive:
- For 32-bit operating systems: Custom_path_x32.reg
- For 64-bit operating systems: Custom_path_x64.reg
- To return to using the default folder %ProgramData%/Kaspersky Lab, run the following file from the archive:
- For 32-bit operating systems: Default path_x32.reg
- For 64-bit operating systems: Default path_x64.reg
- Reboot the computer to apply the changes.
3. How to change the tracing level to 700-800 using registry keys
The .reg files listed below should be run in the safe mode. You must reproduce the problem in the normal mode.
To set the tracing level to 700/800:
- Make sure your user account has administrator privileges.
- Download the archive and extract the files from it:
- For Kaspersky Endpoint Security MR1 KES10_trace_level.zip
- For Kaspersky Endpoint Security SP1 KES10SP1_trace_level.zip.
- For Kaspersky Endpoint Security SP2 KES10SP2_trace_level.zip.
- To generate trace files at the level 800, run the following file from the archive:
- For 32-bit operating systems: Trace_ON_800_x32.reg
- For 64-bit operating systems: Trace_ON_800_x64.reg
- To generate trace files at the level 700, run the following file from the archive.
- For 32-bit operating systems: Trace_ON_700_x32.reg
- For 64-bit operating systems: Trace_ON_700_x64.reg
- To generate trace files at the level 500 (default), run the following file from the archive:
- For 32-bit operating systems: Trace_ON_500_x32.reg
- For 64-bit operating systems: Trace_ON_500_x64.reg
