Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Filter is an interception driver of network packets. Network packets are intercepted by means of the NDIS Intermediate Driver technology. This method of embedding into the system is recommended by Microsoft because of the high level of compatibility it provides both for various OS versions and for other applications and drivers.

Installation of NDIS Filter 6 driver does not break established network connections. After the installation, the Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS 6 Filter driver will be displayed in the network connection properties.

NDIS Filter 6 driver is installed in all cases, regardless of the components you have selected. NDIS Filter 6 helps Kaspersky Security Center 10 to collect information on equipment installed on a workstation or a file server.

The following components of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows use NDIS Filter:

• Network Attack Blocker
• Firewall
• Device Control
• Web Control

NDIS Filter is also used by the network license checking mechanism.

NDIS Filter can be installed on the operating systems listed in the system requirements for Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows.

To remove the NDIS Filter driver:

1. Select Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS 6 Filter in the network connection properties window.
2. Click Uninstall. 

NDIS filter is removed simultaneously for all network connections.

The consequences are as follows:

• The protection components that use NDIS Filter may work incorrectly.
• The mechanism of checking licenses over the network will not work.

After Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Filter was uninstalled, it can be installed again if necessary.

To install the driver back:

1. Disable Self-Defense of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows.
2. Click Install.
3. Select Service and click Add.
4. In the Select Network Service window, select Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS 6 Filter and click OK.

NDIS filter will be installed on the computer.
