Upgrading from a previous version of the application

Upgrading the application to Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.1 Light Agent with the 5.1.3 update

You can upgrade the following application versions to Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.1 Light Agent with the 5.1.3 update:

• Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.0 Light Agent.
• Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 4.0 Light Agent.

You cannot upgrade an application version earlier than 4.0 to Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.1 Light Agent.

If you have Kaspersky Security Center version 10 SP2 MR1 installed, to upgrade Kaspersky Security to Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.1 Light Agent with the 5.1.3, you need to upgrade Kaspersky Security Center to one of the supported versions. If an upgrade of Kaspersky Security Center resulted in problems with the operation of Kaspersky Security, you can find a solution to the problem in the Knowledge Base.

Upgrading the application comprises the following steps:

1. Updating Kaspersky Security management MMC plug-ins, Integration Server, and Integration Server Console.

   After updating MMC plug-ins, Integration Server and Integration Server Console, it is recommended to run the download updates to the repository task in the Kaspersky Security Center Administration Console and make sure that the task completes successfully. For details, please refer to the Kaspersky Security Center documentation.

2. Installing Kaspersky Security web plug-ins if you intend to use the web interface to interact with Kaspersky Security Center. Web plug-ins are installed using the Web Console.
3. Upgrade of the Protection Server component.
4. Upgrading the Light Agent for Windows component on protected virtual machines.
5. Installing the new version of Light Agent for Linux component. To do so, you must perform the following actions:
   1. Uninstall the previous version of the Light Agent for Linux component on virtual machines.
   2. Uninstall the previous version of the Kaspersky Security Center Network Agent component on virtual machines by means of the Linux operating system.
   3. Install the new version of the Light Agent for Linux component on virtual machines.
6. Converting policies and tasks that were configured in Kaspersky Security Center for a previous version of Kaspersky Security. Policies and tasks that were configured for Kaspersky Security version 4.0 or 5.0 are not compatible with the updated version of the application.

Light Agent can connect only to an SVM on which the version of the Protection Server component is compatible with the version of the Light Agent component. The versions of the Light Agent and Protection Server components are compatible within a single version of Kaspersky Security.

Installing Kaspersky Security 5.1.3 update

If you have Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.1 Light Agent without updates or with updates 5.1.1 or 5.1.2, you can install update 5.1.3 of Kaspersky Security.

Update 5.1.3 provides the ability to interact with Kaspersky Security Center via the web interface. Update 5.1.3 also includes the functionalities available in all previous updates of Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.1 Light Agent:

• Protection of the virtual infrastructure on the Nutanix Acropolis platform (available in updates 5.1.1, 5.1.2 and 5.1.3).
• Usage of the VMware NSX-T Manager in Kaspersky Security operation (available in updates 5.1.2 and 5.1.3).
• Automation of application usage scenarios in multitenancy mode (available in updates 5.1.2 and 5.1.3).

Depending on which functionality of update 5.1.3 you want to use, follow these steps:

• If you want to protect virtual infrastructure on the Nutanix Acropolis platform or if you want to use Kaspersky Security VMware NSX-T Manager in your work, you need to install a new version of the Integration Server and the Integration Server Console. Installation can be performed by using the Kaspersky Security Components Installation Wizard or from the command line. The installation process only updates the Integration Server and Integration Server Console. Update of Kaspersky Security MMC plug-ins is not required.
• If you want to automate the application usage scenarios in multitenancy mode, you need to install a new version of the Integration Server and the Integration Server Console, as well as update the Protection Server component.
• If you want to use the web interface to interact with Kaspersky Security Center, you need to install Kaspersky Security web plug-ins. Web plug-ins are installed using the Web Console.

  Kaspersky Security web plug-ins allow you to manage SVMs and Light Agents of version 5.1 and later.

Update of Kaspersky Security MMC plug-ins and the Light Agent component is not required.

After update 5.1.3 is installed, you can use policies and tasks that were configured for Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.1 Light Agent or Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.1 Light Agent with the updates 5.1.1 or 5.1.2.
