“Some protection components are not running” error

Possible causes

  • It is impossible to install the Kaspersky certificate to Firefox profiles because the master password feature is used in the browser. To fix the issue:
    1. Disable the Master Password feature. Open the guide on the Mozilla Firefox support site and scroll down to Removing the master password section.
    2. Restart the Kaspersky application. See the instructions for Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac and Kaspersky Security Cloud for Mac.
    Use of master password will be disabled. Protection components will start.
  • Kaspersky certificate is incompatible with Firefox profiles. To fix the issue:
    1. Open Finder and go to the Applications → Utilities.
    2. Double-click Terminal.

    1. Create the folder with the name Backups to save Firefox profiles backup to it. Enter the command:

    2. mkdir ~/backups
    1. Copy the profiles.ini file to the Backups folder. Enter the command:

    2. cp ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox/profiles.ini ~/backups/
    1. Copy the contents of the Profiles folder to the Backups folder. Enter the command:

    2. cp -r ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox/Profiles ~/backups/
    1. Delete the profiles.ini file and the contents of the Profiles folder. Enter the command:

    2. rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox/Profiles/* 
      rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox/profiles.ini
    1. Restart the application. See the instructions for Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac and Kaspersky Security Cloud for Mac.
  • Firefox profiles will be deleted. Protection components will start. If you need to restore Firefox profiles, see the guide below.

What to do if the issue persists

If the issue persists, submit a request to Kaspersky Lab technical support via the My Kaspersky portal. Please include a detailed description of the issue.
