The Data Encryption component in Kaspersky Total Security 2017 is designed for protecting confidential information against unauthorized access and data leakage.

The data is stored in an encrypted form in a special container. A vault is an encrypted object created by the user in the Data Encryption module.

Vaults are encrypted with the AES XTS 256 block cipher with the effective key length of 56 bit.

A password is required to access the data stored in the vault. You can access the data in the vault only from the computer with Kaspersky Total Security 2017 installed.

When you access the protected container, data stored in the container are automatically decrypted in RAM. When you complete the session, they are automatically encrypted.
