Computer Protection is a comprehensive protection tool. The module protectes data stored on your computer against viruses and malware, blocks spam and ad banners on web sites and in applications' interfaces; the module protects from network attacks and filters network activity, provides secure internet and local connections. Also the Computer Protection module protects against unknown threats and internet fraud. Comprehensive protection is provided on all information transfer steps.

The Computer Protection module is accessible via the main application window of Kaspersky PURE 3.0 and includes the following protection tools:

  • Protection components:
    • File Anti-Virus controls the computer file system and starts at the OS startup, it permanently resides in the RAM. It scans open, launched and saved files on your computer and on all attached disks.
    • Mail Anti-Virus protects incoming and outgoing mail from dangerous objects.
    • Web Anti-Virus intercepts and blocks script execution located on the web-site if it is dangerous. Each web page or a file you open is intercepted and analysed by Web Anti-Virus for malicious codes presence.
    • IM Anti-Virus ensures safe operation of IM clients. It protects the information that comes to your computer via IM protocols. The product ensures safe operation of various applications for instant messaging, including ICQ, MSN, AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, Jabber, Google Talk, and others.
    • Application Control prevents applications from executing actions which can endanger the system, monitors access to your operating system and personal data.
    • Firewall ensures your security on local networks and the Internet.
    • Network Attack Blocker monitors incoming traffic for activity typical of network attacks. If an attack onto your computer is detected, then any network activity of the attacking computer towards your computer will be blocked.
    • Anti-Spam filters all incoming/outgoing mail for spam and sorts it according to the settings configured.
    • Anti-Banner blocks advertising information located on banners built into interfaces of various programs installed on your computer, or displayed online.
    • System Watcher collects data about the actions performed by applications on your computer and gives this information to other components for improved protection. On the basis of the information collected, the System Watcher component allows you to roll back actions performed by malicious applications.
    • Anti-Phishing prevents loading of phishing web-sites and phishing attacks.
  • Virus scan tasks are used to scan individual files, folders, drives, areas, or the entire computer for viruses.
  • Update tasks ensure the up-to-date status of internal application modules and databases used to scan for malicious programs.
