Granting temporary access to device

When configuring Device Control, the administrator may mistakenly block access to a device that the user needs for work. If the user believes that access to a device or an operation with device content was blocked by mistake, the user can request temporary access to the blocked device from the administrator of the corporate local network.

The user can request temporary access if the administrator has the user allowed to do so. The administrator can configure this permission in the policy properties in the Web Console, in the Administration Console, or in the settings of the Device Control task).

Granting access to a blocked device involves the following steps:

  1. The user creates an access request file and sends it to the administrator, for example, by email or in any available way (the administrator can configure this in the block message template). The user can request temporary access to the blocked device in the graphical interface of the application or on the command line.
  2. The administrator creates an access key based on the access request file and passes it to the user, for example, by email or in any other way. Access to a blocked device is granted in the Web Console.
  3. The user uploads the access key and gains temporary access to the blocked device. The user can upload the access key in the graphical user interface or on the command line of the application.

Granting access to a blocked device is available only if Kaspersky Security Center 16.1 is deployed in the organization and the client device is able to establish a connection with the Administration Server.
