Web Control for virtual machines

Web Control controls traffic on the computer as well as on a virtual machine that is locally deployed on the computer. This works without having to install the Kaspersky Endpoint Security application on the local virtual machine. This means that if the user tries to open a website that is blocked by a Web Control rule in a browser on the virtual machine, the application installed on the host operating system of the computer denies access to that website.

Web Control works differently on different virtual machines.

Oracle VM VirtualBox

Kaspersky Endpoint Security supports Web Control rules on Oracle VM VirtualBox virtual machines without limitations. The application can control all traffic of the virtual machine. If a filter by user is configured in Web Control rules, the application works correctly because all processes of the virtual machines are started by the local user.

VMware Workstation

Kaspersky Endpoint Security supports Web Control rules on VMware Workstation virtual machines with limitations. The application does not support rules with a filter by user configured. Virtual machine processes are running under the system user (SYSTEM). This makes it impossible to identify the user that is trying to open the website on the virtual machine.

Microsoft Hyper-V

Kaspersky Endpoint Security does not support Web Control rules on Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines.
