Message scan technologies in Kaspersky Security 8.0 for Linux Mail Server

This article concerns Kaspersky Security 8.0 for Linux Mail Server Maintenance Pack 3 (version 8.0.3.30).
 
 
 
 

To give your mail infrastructure extra protection against spam and phishing, Kaspersky Security 8.0 for Linux Mail Server uses the following technologies for checking message sender authenticity:

  • Global level only:
    • Kaspersky Security Network (KSN). For more information, see the Online Help page.
  • Global and rule levels:
    • DNSBL (DNS block list). Servers for storing public lists of IP addresses caught sending spam and to which the Anti-Spam module has assigned the spam rating.
    • SURBL (Spam URI Realtime Block List). Servers for storing lists of web addresses that were previously detected in the subject or body of messages recognized as spam and to which the Anti-Spam module assigns a spam rating.
  • Rule level only:
    • SPF (Sender Policy Framework). A comparison of IP addresses of mail senders with the list of possible message sources that has been created by the mail server administrator. A message's spam rating will be increased if the sender is not on the list of approved senders.
    • DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail). Verification of the digital signature added to messages.
    • DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance). A scan that determines the policy and actions taken on messages based on the results of SPF and DKIM Mail Sender Authentication.
