Kaspersky DDoS Protection operating scenario

A Collector is a software and hardware system that receives and processes traffic information from other software components of the System, including to apply filtering criteria and criteria for detecting anomalies and attacks. The purpose of a collector is to exchange traffic information and service information between all software components of the System.

A Scrubbing Center is a System component that analyzes and filters traffic passing through the Customer's network resources. It resides at an independent Kaspersky site that is remotely located and physically separate from the Customer's equipment. The purpose of a Scrubbing Center is to remove parasitic traffic elements from the redirected traffic of the Customer and then deliver "clean" traffic to the Protected resources. All Scrubbing Centers are integrated into one distributed System.

A Sensor receives information about the traffic directed at a Customer's Protected resource and aggregates this information so that it can be provided to the Collector.
