Issue
When installing the Administration Server on a compressed drive, an error may occur during the database creation which does not allow the installation to complete.
Error example: “Error has occurred while installing: Generic db error: "5118 'The file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.KAV\MSSQL\DATA\KAV.mdf" is compressed but does not reside in a read-only database or filegroup. The file must be decompressed.{42000};’ LastStatement='IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT name FROM master.dbo.sysdatabases WHERE name = 'KAV') CREATE DATABASE [KAV];'".”
Solution
- Stop the SQL Server service.
- Open the properties of the folder with the database files.
For example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\DATA\ - Open the General tab and click Advanced in the Attributes section.
- Clear the Compress contents to save disk space checkbox.
- Click OK in the current and next windows.
- Start the SQL Server service.
- Reinstall the Administration Server.
