The following options are available if you want to upgrade from Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server to KSMG 2.1:

  • Installation on a new server

Installation on a new server is the recommended migration option.

In this case, you must prepare a new mail server, install the new version of the KSMG application on that server, and then migrate the email traffic processing functions to that server step by step. The server with the previous version of the application must be maintained in a functional state for as long as you need access to the data stored on it, that is, the contents of Backup, quarantines, the audit log, and reports.

  • Installation on an existing server

This option requires saving the settings and data of Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server. After that, you must remove KSMG because the new version of the application cannot be installed on top of a previous version. Subsequently, you must install and configure the new version of the application, and then restore the email traffic processing functions on the server.
