When the Idle Scan option is enabled, Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 automatically updates its antivirus databases and scans the system memory, the startup objects, and the system volumes of the hard disk when the computer is idle (meaning that it is locked by the user or the screen saver active for five minutes or more).

When the computer is resumed to the active state, the Idle Scan task stops automatically. The application remembers the stage when the scan task was stopped and resumes the scan process from that stage next time (updates download will start over again).

Please note: when your computer is battery-powered, Idle Scan will not be performed even if the computer is idle.

To enable or disable Idle Scan:

  1. Open the Settings window in Kaspersky Internet Security 2016.
  2. In the Settings window, go to the Performance section and select or clear the Perform Idle Scan check box.
