The article applies to Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0

Due to possible network accessibility limitations, there exist several methods to install Network agent in a workgroup:

• By locally running the Network agent setup file. This installation method requires answering questions of the Setup Wizard (specify Administration server address).

• Silent local installation. This installation method requires creating a special Network agent installation package at the Administration server, moving it to a local PC, and running the lsexec.exe file with a special switch.

• Silent local installation using a standalone package. You should create a Network agent installation package on the Administration server. Then create a standalone installation package from the created Network agent, copy it to the local PC and run the file setup.exe (without switches).

• Silent installation from a network resourceThis method does not apply to systems running Windows XP Home / Vista Home OS.

This installation method requires creating a special Network agent installation package at the Administration server, and running the lsexec.exe file with special switches on a local PC from the network resource.

• Using a forced installation taskThis method does not apply to systems running Windows XP Home / Vista Home OS.

This method can be used only after disabling shared folder access or changing the shared access and security mode for local user accounts to Classic - local users authenticate as themselves.

Run the Network agent setup file locally

Copy the Network agent distribution package from Administration server to a client PC (folder C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Administration Kit\Share\Packages\NetAgent 8.0.XXXX) and manually start the file setup.exe. Answer the Setup Wizard questions.

Silent local installation

1. Open the Kaspersky Administration Kit installation folder on the Administration server and find the file lsexec.exe. Copy it into the folder C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Administration Kit\Share\Packages\NetAgent 8.0.XXXX (Network agent version 8.0.XXXX installation package).

2. Copy the folder C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Administration Kit\Share\Packages\NetAgent 8.0.ХХХХ to a client PC and run the file lsexec.exe with the switch /S (to install Network agent in silent mode).

lsexec.exe /S

1. Open the Administration console, choose a Network agent installation package, right-click it and select the option Create standalone installation package.

2. Standalone installation package creation Wizard will ask you only one question: if you want to move this computer into a particular administration group after the Network agent setup completes.

Standalone installation packages are created in the folder C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Administration Kit\Share\PkgIns\NetAgent 8.0.XXXX) with file name setup.exe.

3. After a standalone installation package is created, the Wizard will suggest sending a standalone installation package link (the file setup.exe) via e-mail. It will also display a HTML code sample for placing a setup.exe file link on web sites.

4. In order to perform a silent local installation, you should run the file setup.exe with switch /S:

setup.exe /s

You can manually copy this file to a user PC and start it.

Execution of a standalone package with other switches is not supported.

Silent installation from a network resource

1. Open the Kaspersky Administration Kit installation folder on the Administration server and find the file lsexec.exe. Copy it into the folder C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Administration Kit\Share\Packages\NetAgent 8.0.XXXX (Network agent version 8.0.XXXX installation package).

2. Ask the users to manually execute the following command (to install Network agent in silent mode):

"\\SERVER\Share\NetAgent 8.0.XXXX\lsexec.exe" /S

where SERVER is the name of the PC with installed Administration server. The folder Share containing the Network agent installation package must be shared for reading on this PC
XXXX is the Network agent build number.

You can copy the folder C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Administration Kit\Share\Packages\NetAgent 8.0.XXXX to any other network resource and specify its path.

1. On the client PC:
• disable the option Use Simple File Sharing,

or

• change the sharing and security model for local user accounts from Guest only - local users authenticate as Guest to Classic - local users authenticate as themselves.

To change the sharing and security model for local user accounts:

1. On the local PC go to Start > Run > enter gpedit.msc.

2. In the Console, open the following sections Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options.

3. Right-click the policy Network Access: Sharing and security model for local accounts to open its properties and select Classic - local users authenticate as themselves from the drop-down menu.

2. Make sure that the resource Admin\$ is available on all PCs within workgroup.

3. Create a new Push install type deployment task.

You should specify in the deployment task an account belonging to the local administrators group on a target PC (on which to deploy the application).
