When the user runs a transform on an entity, the request is sent to Paterva Transform Distribution Server (TDS). TDS then sends the transform request to the server with Kaspersky Service for Maltego. The server finds related information by using Kaspersky Threat Intelligence Portal (for a Commercial license) or Kaspersky Open Threat Intelligence Portal (for a Demo license), and then sends the response with additional data back to TDS. TDS sends the response to the user's Maltego client.

Due to this workflow, users do not need to adjust the transforms or set the type of the resulting entity manually. All the required information is downloaded from the server. This architecture provides high performance, use of the latest back-end software, and privacy. The privacy is ensured by encrypting the traffic.
